This year will be the Year of the Rabbit. York will be celebrating by hanging lanterns on Parliament Street and installing a large bright Rabbit on the corner of Rougier Street and Tanner Row.
Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, is the most important festival in many East Asian countries. It is traditionally a time to honour ancestors, feast and visit family members (a good reason to stay with us if you have friends and family in York!).
The sign of the Rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity in Chinese culture. 2023 is predicted to be a year of hope.
